Wood floors. Designers and architects are eschewing the notion that wood floors don't belong in the bath. Instead, wood flooring is extended throughout homes and into bathrooms like this one, lending a seamless look. When properly sealed (with no- or low-VOC sealers, please), wood floors in the bath need not present any added challenges.

For instance, pair grayish or black wood floors with pale, weathered woods, and pair warm, rich floors (like the ones shown here) with warm medium- to light-toned woods like cherry or maple. The lighter wood furniture, fluffy white rugs, and crisp white walls here provide contrast to the dark wood floors without appearing stark.

Thank you very much for your inquiry. Hardwood floor featured in this picture is our exclusive Victorian™ Collection 6-3/4" (17 cm) wide, European Vintage French Oak in Character grade hardwood floor, hand scraped, hand beveled, hand distressed, dyed and stained in custom JDS Black Walnut clolor, triple oiled and waxed. The floor is fully handmade to order, so please allow a several weeks lead time.

It’s considered more eco-friendly, too – only a thin layer of slow-growing hardwood is used and the substrate uses faster-growing species. It’s also more stable than solid timber. CONS: The number of sandings it can tolerate depends on the veneer thickness. Oak floors, Mafi.

In this home, the flooring from the outside is the same as in the dining area, but not in the rest of the interior. The transition from hardwood to concrete seems to reinforce the feel that the dining area and the exterior are a single space.

This beautiful home had original old wood floors that we needed to add to. We laced in new floor planks, distressed them, and made the new look old in the new areas of the home.
